Public Lecture on Parkinson Disease and Sleep Disorders
Guest speaker Dr. Ron Postuma
La présentation sera donnée en anglais suivie d’une période de questions bilingue
Dr. Ron Postuma is Assistant Professor of Neurology at McGill University at the Montreal General Hospital. Dr. Postuma studies non-motor manifestations of Parkinson's disease particularly sleep disorders. He is testing how to predict Parkinson's disease, particularly by studying patients with REM sleep behaviour disorder, which is a major risk factor for the disease. He is also looking for ways to improve detection and treatment of non-motor problems, including clinical trials for treatments of sleepiness and insomnia. Dr. Postuma authored two resources on the non-motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease, one for patients and the companion booklet for physicians. Dr. Postuma is Chair of Parkinson Canada’s Scientific Advisory Board.
This lecture is a joint presentation of the Cummings Center and Parkinson Canada (Québec). The lecture will be followed by a moderated question and answer period. The presentation will be in English and a light snack will be served. Transportation can be arranged if specified on the registration form (please include your phone number).
