Jamie Fobert, Belleville SuperWalk Coordinator, was diagnosed in 2010.

"Fighting back became just a part of me. There are 100,000 Canadians that are living with Parkinson's disease. They need help. This is your fight, but you are not alone."

Jamie shares that as a fit and active person the young-onset Parkinson’s disease diagnosis came as a complete shock.

"It was very difficult to adjust. Shortly after I was diagnosed, I met a woman named Stephanie who had been fighting her own battle with Parkinson’s. She was volunteering for Parkinson Canada and ran a support group close by. I was so in need of someone to talk to, someone who understood what I was going through…Stephanie spoke with me for hours. She and the other members were nothing short of amazing. They shared their own experiences. They assured me I still had a life worth living. I still have some bad days, but Parkinson Canada and people like Stephanie and my wonderful wife, Bev, have been a lifeline. When your life has been completely altered, and you don’t know what to do or where to turn, you need people to tell you that you are not alone. That there is a place you can turn to."
