Supporting SuperWalk ensures the development of resources to educate Canadians with Parkinson's and healthcare professionals alike. In 2019, you supported the publication of the new Canadian Guidelines for Parkinson disease in the Canadian Medical Association Journal. Published digitally in September, in just three months 16,000 full-text views were consumed ranking this resource as a top-10 most viewed in the entire year, confirming the priority of this message.

Beyond the value of regular meetings, our support group and community development network throughout the country engage with local education fairs, hospitals and long term care facilities to raise awareness of Parkinson’s generally, and our options for local support specifically. Moreover, we work in communities to raise the level of understanding of Parkinson’s for the general public and healthcare professionals to make sure that people living with Parkinson’s are understood in their communities and provided better service in a healthcare setting.

Our knowledge network includes a regular webinar and podcast series available live and on demand and accessible across the country. This covers a broad range of topics and leverages the expertise of our staff and experts in the field of Parkinson’s. Through our education programs, we help to build a better understanding of Parkinson’s and improve the quality of care. Healthcare professional outreach campaigns and programs take place across the country to help educate staff working in hospitals and long-term care facilities.

7,500 copies of the Canadian Guidelines on Parkinson’s Disease are distributed each year. Over 1,500 Health Care Professionals receive in-person presentations, including with our Act on Time Program that emphasizes the priority of medication timing in managing Parkinson's. 1,800 Health Care professionals receive online learning to stay up to date on Parkinson's management.

And new resources are regularly produced to ensure people living with Parkinson's are well equipped to manage their Parkinson's at any stage.
