for more years than I can keep track of, I am again participating in Pedaling for Parkinson's (Parry Sound) this summer.
This cycling event was inspired by the very personal experience of the founders to raise awareness about Parkinson's and raise funds for research.
From the beginning the philosophy has been to ensure all of the money raised goes directly to research. As a result, each year the event has relied completely on the help of a beautiful group of family and friends.
It is that personal motivation and contribution that give the ride its remarkably fun and friendly feel. Over 3 days a broad group of people come out to ride and support the riders. From home made cookies to hugs to placing signs and driving support vehicles all of the volunteers make sure everyone has a great time and that their efforts on the road and rasing money for the cause are appreciated.
The involvement and stories of people living with Parkison's ensures the reason everyone comes out is not forgotten.
Your donation dollars go directly towards a Pedaling for Parkinson’s Research Grant and the Parkinson Society Canada National Research Program.
Parkinson's is a neurodegenerative disease. Movement is normally controlled by dopamine, a chemical that carries signals between the nerves in the brain. When cells that normally produce dopamine die, the symptoms of Parkinson's appear. Currently, there is no cure.
With your support we can help the Parkinson Society realize their vision of a better life and a brighter future for Canadian's living with Parkinson's today; a world without Parkinson's tomorrow.
Already this ride has made a difference. If you can, please make a contribution.
Thanks in advance,
