Next week I am taking part in Pedaling for Parkinson's - a cycling event that was created to raise awareness about Parkinson's and raise funds for research. It began because a dear friend wanted to do something to help my husband who was diagnosed with the disease and another good friend's dad. This event means alot to us and I am riding on two of the days as Rob is unable to ride at the moment. Please consider supporting the ride:)
Thanks to the support of our sponsors, your donation dollars go directly towards a Pedaling for Parkinson’s Research Grant and the Parkinson Canada National Research Program.
Since 2011, Pedaling for Parkinson's has generated over $1,000,000 in support of the Pedaling for Parkinson's Research Grant. You are supporting the largest annual single site funrdaiser for Parkinson Canada. This year, the fundraising target is $500,000 as we look to influence the course of Parkinson's research in Canada. Reaching this goal will ensure that the legacy of Pedaling for Parkinson's lives on through a committment to fund a new Pilot Project Grant through the Parkinson Canada Research Program until 2027.
Parkinson's is a neurodegenerative disease. Movement is normally controlled by dopamine, a chemical that carries signals between the nerves in the brain. When cells that normally produce dopamine die, the symptoms of Parkinson's appear. Currently, there is no cure.
With your support we can help Parkinson Canada realize their vision of a better life and a brighter future for Canadian's living with Parkinson's today; a world without Parkinson's tomorrow.
