Johnny Utah Speed Demons
As many of you know, our dad/grampa/father-in-law was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease more than 10 years ago. He's fighting an amazing battle and is an inspiration to us every day.
This summer, our team comprised of 2 of his 3 children - Chris and Jacqueline (the ones who did not found this charity event!), 2 of his 8 grand children (Hailey Chapman and Madeleine Newall) and his son-in-law Grant are Pedaling for Parkinson's (in Parry Sound). This cycling event was created to raise awareness about Parkinson's and raise funds for research.
Thanks to the support of our sponsors, your donation dollars go directly towards a Pedaling for Parkinson’s Research Grant and the Parkinson Society Canada National Research Program.
Parkinson's is a neurodegenerative disease. Movement is normally controlled by dopamine, a chemical that carries signals between the nerves in the brain. When cells that normally produce dopamine die, the symptoms of Parkinson's appear. Currently, there is no cure.
With your support we can help the Parkinson Society realize their vision of a better life and a brighter future for Canadian's living with Parkinson's today; a world without Parkinson's tomorrow.
