Support Jane Davey for Parkinson SuperWalk
Everyday Heroes. Extraordinary Hope.
Hi to family and friends and anyone else who may be interested in supporting me in my walk this September 8th! I’m joining everyday heroes from communities across Canada as part of Parkinson SuperWalk. I’d like to tell you why, and what your donation will do.
My husband Austin has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease since 2010. At first he was able to carry on with his normal busy life. He taught at Laurentian University, ran his own business as a chartered accountant and also was a financial planner. Two years ago, this all came to a crashing halt. The teaching was the first to go and then he had to sell both his businesses. It broke his heart to see his life changing so dramatically. Fatigue is his biggest issue. We have become involved with the local support group and have met so many fine people who suffer from this debilitating disease. We meet once a month and each time there are more families joining us. The need is only increasing. More than 25 Canadians are diagnosed with Parkinson's every day; more than one person every hour. By 2031, the number of people living with Parkinson’s in Canada will more than double. I am participating in Parkinson SuperWalk to fund the increasing need for support, advocacy and research.
Your donation fuels better health outcomes for Canadians living with Parkinson's today, and it supports the Parkinson Canada Research Program which works with Canada's brightest researchers to find the next big breakthroughs in treatment. This is why I'm asking for your support today.
Help me ensure Parkinson Canada is there for Canadians living with Parkinson’s today – while funding research into better treatments and one day, a cure.
