Welcome to My Personal Page

This September I will join 14,000 Canadians who take part Parkinson SuperWalk. Together we raise funds for research into the causes of Parkinson's, better treatments and one day, a cure. My own recent experience with drug therapies has been significant. By changing my daily medication I was able to re-claim 4 hours per day which had previously been "off-periods" for me. This is significant and demonstrates the power of research that needs to be funded. Your funding also supports education and support services, not only for people with Parkinson's, but also for their caregivers and family members too in communities across Canada.
About 3 months after my diagnosis in June of 2012, I became a member of Parkinson's Canada. I also started attending the Young Onset support group meetings for people with Parkinson's. These meetings are just a small part of what Parkinson's Canada does for the community. In my case, the support meetings allowed me to quickly learn (from others) about the disease, its symptoms, medication, the importance of exercise and lifestyle impacts. We also made use of the Newly Diagnosed Workshops wherein my immediate and extended family could learn more about the disease in a friendly and professional environment.
In 2017, I was appointed to the Parkison's Canada Finance and Audit Committee of the Board of Directors so that I can lend a hand with helping the Board of Parkinson's Canada achieve prudent financial management and good governace practices. As a person with Parkinson's, and as a CPA Chartered Accountant I am proud to be part of this successful organization.
So, when you walk with me, or sponsor me, you bring us closer to this year's goal of $2 million. Every dollar means new hope.
Thank you!
Jeff Potts
