Mississauga Wilkinson Warriors
Thanks for visiting the Mississauga Wilkinson Warriors team page. This September, our team will be joining everyday heroes from communities across Canada as part of Parkinson SuperWalk.
In 2019, we are focussing our efforts on activities and events leading up to the walk, as well as the walk itself. Another successful progressive euchre event coordinated by the Green family was held in Milton in April. Late in 2018, a small number of dedicated volunteers formed a group we call "Passion for Parkinson’s". This group successfully planned and hosted a sold-out dinner/dance fund-raising gala held on May 4. An enthusiastic team of supporters partipated in the Canada Day parade in Port Credit (photo above) to help promote the Mississauga Superwalk. The crowds were great and cheered us all along the parade route. Thanks to all who turned out!
We are also working with Parkinson Canada’s Mississauga Superwalk coordinator to enhance the walk event this September 14. We are looking forward to attracting as many family and friends as we can to the new location for the walk - J.C. Saddington Park by Lake Ontario. You can be sure to enjoy a fun-filled day of friendship, food, entertainment and prizes! There will be 1K, 2K and 5K walk/run events to appeal to all abilities. Check-in begins at 9:30 with opening ceremonies at 10:30. Please mark September 14 on your calendars.
As a team, we’re committed to supporting Parkinson Canada. I’d like to tell you why, and what committing to join us or visiting our personal pages and making a donation will do.
The need is only increasing. More than 25 Canadians are diagnosed with Parkinson's every day; more than one person every hour. By 2031, the number of people living with Parkinson’s in Canada will more than double. We are participating in Parkinson SuperWalk to fund the increasing need for support services, education, advocacy and research. This is why we are asking for your support today. More than that, we walk to show our collective support for a collective movement of people in communities across Canada looking to make a difference one step at a time.
Help us ensure Parkinson Canada is there for Canadians living with Parkinson’s today – while funding research into better treatments and one day, a cure.
Every dollar raised and every new team member means new hope. Thank you!
