Support Claire Haas for Parkinson SuperWalk
My Three Reasons
- My three reasons to volunteer for Parkinson Superwalk on Sept. 7, 2019 are:
- a husband,
- a brother,
- a friend.
- Over the years I have come to realize that many types of Parkinson and Parkinsonism exist, so no two cases are alike. For example, I hear people’s reactions to finding out that I know people with Parkinson, I find that they are based on assumptions like: they should not be driving; they must have (or will get) dementia; they can’t live on their own; they have the “shakes.” None of these are necessarily true for everyone with Parkinson, but the people I know, are courageous people who make the best of their individual situation.
- Parkinsonism patients do not have “the shakes” or unwanted muscle movements. Only 50% of Parkinson patients get dementia. Many patients do not drive a car, but some do. Many Parkinson patients live on their own. Things happen but no one can predict the course of this disease.
- Parkinson Canada provides support groups for patients and caregivers and continually disseminates educational information on the disease. Resources like physio/exercise classes for those who need them are available through Parkinson Canada. Counseling and literature are available to help patients and caregivers make important life decisions together. Your donation will help Parkinson Canada to continue this very important work. Please donate at www.parkinsonsuperwalk.ca by clicking on Claire Haas and then click donate. You will receive a receipt automatically by email for online donations of $20 or more. Or you can sign my pledge form in person and make a cheque to Parkinson Canada and I will bring it to the Superwalk on Sept. 7. Charitable tax receipts for amounts of $20 or more will be sent after the event. If you can, please match my donation of $50, or donate the amount that you can, more or less.
- Every bit helps!
