Both of my parents had Parkinson’s. My mom, Heather, died of Parkinson’s and my dad, Lloyd, had been living with Parkinson’s for many years when he died. This is why the name of our team is Heather & Lloyd's crew.
Parkinson's has touched the lives of other people in my life. Shelly Parr, Sue Alexander Ash and Sydney Taylor's dad, Robert, succumbed to the disease . My friends, Jamie Currie & James Macdonald also lost their dad to Parkinson's.
Evan Siddal and Harry McMurtry both have early onset Parkinson's. These men inspire me. Evan started this event and has raised awareness and a lot of money to help fight this disease and Harry has followed a similar path. They have battled many obstacles with passion and courage and positivity.
Parkinson's is a terrible disease. Our population is aging and so more people will die of Parkinson’s in our kid's generation and our grandchildren’s generation unless we do something now. We need to know much more about this killer by conducting further research so we can stop it
Please support my Growling Beaver Brevet fundraiser and help me ensure Parkinson Canada is here for Canadians living with Parkinson’s today – while funding research into better treatments and one day, a cure.
