Dear family and friends,
I will be taking part in the Growling Beaver bike-ride again this year in Collingwood on October 5th to raise money for Parkinson's Canada, which funds critical research to transform the lives of those living with Parkinson's disease.
I know that many of you receive similar support requests for other worthy causes, but would appreciate a moment of your time to tell you why this cause is particularly meaningful for me.
My dear friends, Doug and Debbie MacLeod, Shelley, Sue and Sydney Alexander, and Jamie Currie have all lost one or both parents to this terrible disease. Other friends, including Harry McMurtry and Evan Siddal (who started this event), have suffered with Parkinson's for many years now and have battled difficult challenges with courage and positivity.
My hope is to honour those above and others who have suffered from this debilitating disease by raising money to help fund research into better treatments and, one day, hopefully a cure.
Please support me in this important initiative. You can make your donation online by visiting my fundraising page (and get an instant tax receipt).
Any amount helps, great or small. I greatly appreciate your support and will ride with you in spirit on October 5th!
Sincerely,
Peter Macdonald
