This year, Holly and I are joining members of the Parkinson’s community from across the country to raise funds for Parkinson's Canada through a charity bike ride.
As you may know, my mom was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2015. It's been heartbreaking to witness the impact on her and on my dad (as her primary caregiver). In 2015 she was dancing with me at my wedding. But the disease progressed so rapidly that at present she's stuck in bed most of the day with arm, leg, hand, and feet muscles persistently tensed in pain, and with a severely limited ability to communicate.
I'm raising money to help fund Parkinson Canada's 1) Programs and Services such as support groups, 2) Research and Innovation, and 3) Awareness and Advocacy. I hope that this funding will help my mom, as well as the more than 100,000 Canadians who live with Parkinson's.
If you feel inclined, I would appreciate a donation towards my ride, or towards my wife Holly's ride. It's a great cause, and donations are tax deductible.
If you’d like to join me and Holly on the ride (Orangeville, Aug 19th), you can easily register at pedalingforparkinson.ca.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and for your support. It means so much.
