Our TNBS team takes pride in being a part of this great event to raise funds for Parkinson Canada. When we are not cycling to help raise research funding, we are actively engaged in doing Parkinson’s research!
Led by Professor Luka Milosevic, we are a team of researchers dedicated to understanding more about changes to the human brain that underly Parkinson’s disease, and to the development of neurotechnological innovations for improving patient care.
A significant aspect of our research is centered around advancing Parkinson's treatment, which is why we are wholeheartedly joining this remarkable movement. More than 100,000 Canadians live with Parkinson's, a number expected to increase substantially in the coming years, with 30 Canadians diagnosed each day. Parkinson's is a disease that affects not only individuals but also families, friends and care partners who come together to manage the realities of Parkinson's.
Parkinson's is a neurodegenerative disease with no cure, and the need for more support is only increasing. By 2031, the number of people living with Parkinson's in Canada will more than double. Your support fuels the increasing need for research.
Funds raised through this initiative will go directly to the Parkinson Canada organization and not to our own research program. However, we are proud to share that our research has indeed previously been funded by Parkinson Canada by way of competitive peer-reviewed application processes. We are grateful for the support. This initiative is our small way of giving back, to ensure that others can also have the opportunity to contribute scientifically towards cures and treatments.
