Welcome to My Personal Parkinson SuperWalk Page
I have been taking part in the Parkinson SuperWalk for 20+ years now largely in support of my Mother (Chiyoko Nagamatsu) who battled Parkinson's until she passed away in 2006. In 2014, my Mother's brother, Uncle Shu also passed away after battling Parkinson's and a dear friend Karen also passed away - Karen was also a dedicated fundraiser for this cause given her sister's and father's battles with Parkinson's.
In this context and as both a member of the Finance, Audit & Investments Committee for Parkinson Canada and an Advisory Council member for the Ontario Region, I am taking the pledge to become an everyday hero and raise funds in support of Canadians living with Parkinson's disease by participating in Parkinson SuperWalk on Sunday September 8, 2019. I have set a fundraising goal of $6,000 since I was able to return to the $5k level ($5,015) in 2018 after strong fundraising numbers in prior yerars: 2017 ($4,475), 2016 ($3,610) - 2015 ($5,400), and 2014 ($5,215).
For those of you who are Amazing Race fans like me - 2013's inaugural Canadian version winners included a father and son team from Manitoba with Tim Sr. who continues in his battle with Parkinson's - he was an inspiration to many!
With your support, I am hoping to get one step closer to achieving my fundraising goal and Parkinson Canada’s goal of a better life today for People Living with Parkinson's; a world without Parkinson's tomorrow.
It takes a community to support those living with Parkinson’s, their families, and caregivers. I invite you to join mine. Please sponsor me for this year’s SuperWalk and know that your donation will be used to help ease the burden of those affected by this disease. Every gift counts.
You can support me by visiting my personal fundraising page and making a contribution. Thank you in advance for your kind consideration to this meaningful cause - I greatly appreciate your support and will keep you posted on my progress.
