Everyday Heroes. Extraordinary Hope.
Hello family and friends,
Thanks for visiting our team page.
The walk is coming up quickly! In less than a month, on September 9, we'll be walking again to raise funds for much-needed research.
Harry was diagnosed almost eight years ago. The fruits of research have enabled him to live well over these years but Parkinsons is a degenerative disease. We need funds for continued research to ensure that Harry, and all Canadians living with the effects of Parkinsons continue to live well.
Harry, thankfully has benefitted from this research in the past year. While continuing his regular medications, he began to wear a patch that delivers a small continuous amount of levadopa medication over the course of the day. This helps to alleviate any 'off' periods and greatly enhances quality of life. All this is possible because of your dollars towards research. Pretty cool stuff!
But the need for funds is only increasing. Some facts for you:
Picture 25 people sitting around a dinner table. That's how many Canadians are diagnosed with Parkinson's every day; more than one person every hour. By 2031, the number of people living with Parkinson’s in Canada will more than double. Harry's Hikers team members participate in Parkinson SuperWalk to fund this increasing need for support, advocacy and research.
We walk to show our collective support for a collective movement of people in communities across Canada looking to make a difference one step at a time.
Help us ensure Parkinson Canada is there for Canadians living with Parkinson’s today – while funding research into better treatments and one day, a cure.
Thank you for your support.
Harry and family
