The PD Gardener
Thanks for visiting the team page for The PD Gardener. On September 8, our team will be joining thousands of other supporters from communities across Canada as part of Parkinson SuperWalk. As a team, we’re committed to supporting Parkinson Canada SuperWalk because Parkinson's is a progressively degenerative disease for which there is no cure.
Stan Marshall aka "The PD Gardener," is one of 100,000 Canadians who are diagnosed with Parkinson's. The symptoms of PD are many and varied - definitely more than "just" a slight tremour. Severe cramping can be physically debilitating as can Bradykinesia (slowness) and stiffness of joints and muscles. Dementia is a non-motor symptoms and even more debilitating. Other non-motor symptoms such as difficulties swallowing are equally problematic. No two persons with Parkinson's exhibit the same symptoms and progression of severity can differ greatly.
More than 25 Canadians are newly diagnosed with Parkinson's every day; more than one person every hour. By 2031, the number of people living with Parkinson’s in Canada will more than double.
We are participating in Parkinson SuperWalk to fund the need for support services, education, advocacy and research. This is why we are asking for your support today. More than that, we walk to show our support for a movement of people in communities across Canada looking to make a difference one step at a time.
Help us to ensure Parkinson Canada is there for Canadians living with Parkinson’s today – while funding research into better treatments and one day, a cure.
Every dollar raised and every new team member means new hope. Thank you!
