Thanks for Visiting Mike's SuperWalk Fundraising Site
I am sure you know how much this cause means to me because of my Dad and my involvement with Parkinson Canada. Thanks for taking some time out to visit this space. This year, your attention here and support will mean more than ever. We need your help to continue making an impact on the people living with Parkinson's.
Fundraising efforts are critical and Parkinson Canada needs your support in 2020. Due to the ramifications from the coronavirus pandemic, the care and support people living with Parkinson’s receive is under threat. With social distancing measures in place and people impacted financially, it has become increasingly difficult to get people suffering from Parkinson’s the help they require. Visits with neurologists are postponed, support groups have been limited, prescription refills have been made more challenging and a host of other issues.
Yet, the focus and mandate remains the same and at all levels of the organization and people are coming together to ensure they can deliver the care and support to those that need it.
While I am mindful of the fact that you also have been affected by this pandemic, I still did want to proceed with my annual appeal for financial sponsorship towards Parkinson Canada’s mission to serve those living with Parkinson’s.
This year the traditional SuperWalk event is going to look different. Instead of getting together as large groups in communities all over Canada, the walk will be a virtual one – families and friends will host their own event. My team, formerly known as “Markham In Motion for Parkinson’s” has been renamed Pedal, Push and Pound Pavement for Parkinson’s. Our fundraising efforts will be capped by taking part in a "virtual walk" on September 12 and either walking, running, biking or pushing a stroller as we would have traditionally done in Unionville in years past.
Like the email I had sent you which led you to this page, I also receive numerous appeals such as this one and I know the pressures faced. If you are unable to support this year, I completely understand and appreciate you just stopping by this space. If your budget does allow for you to support this let me thank you in advance as well.
One of the guiding principles of my Dad was taken from a Bible verse in Micah 6:8, paraphrased here:
"Act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with your God"
