Support Team Julie - "Outrunning Parkinson's" - for Parkinson SuperWalk
Everyday Heroes. Extraordinary Hope.
On Saturday September 12 we will be running 5km in support of Parkinson SuperWalk. Like most of you, I have friends and family that are/have been affected by Parkinson's. I will be joining one of those "everyday heroes", one of my best friends and someone who has always been an inspiration to me - before and since her Parkinson's diagnosis. Your support will be directed towards research, which I hope will mean better treatments and a cure in time to help Julie and others affected by this disease.
Here is what Julie has to say on her fundraising page:
“I think this might be the last year that I can run 5K - I'll have to start walking instead in the future. But hey, let's give it a try this year, and see how we do. And there is a lot to run for. There are a lot of very interesting experiments taking place around the world, including continuing re-purposing existing drugs that have already been approved for a variety of illnesses, and using stem cells to replace the dopamine transmitting cells that already have been lost. I'll also continue to do what I can by participating in research and trials, and of course I'll keep exercising every day, to try and reduce the impact of the symptoms of the disease.”
There are many worthy causes to support, specially this year. if you are able to donate, your support will be much appreciated.
To show your support, click the DONATE NOW button on the right hand side of the page, above the progress meter and achievements.
Every dollar means new hope. Thank you!
