WOW! What can I say? Thank You - Thank You - Thank You - I can never say it enough - Thank You!
Since making my Parkinson Disease (PD) diagnosis public and joining Parkinson Canada’s “Superwalk” I am overwhelmed by the generosity of those who have so kindly donated and enabled me to not only reach my fundraising goal, but to surpass it. To this I say Thank You.
Since becoming members of the Peterborough/Kawartha Lakes Chapter of Parkinson Canada, I, myself, as well as two friends, Barb (Don) Dunford and Brian Barlett, have benefited from the support and resources offered at our monthly meetings. A portion of the funds raised will stay local to assist those in our community with PD to live a better life.
Research - how can a cure be found without research? Another portion of the funds raised will be directed to the Parkinson Canada Research Program, which invests in Canada's brightest researchers, leading to medical advancements in treatment and one day, a cure.
“Superwalk 2020” will mark the 25th Anniversary of the walk and will be held on September 12th. Unfortunately, due to current restrictions, the “Superwalk” will consist of numerous small neighbourhood walks. Due to my recent knee surgery, my walking will be limited. I will keep you update if I will be able to attend a socially distanced event. National Opening ceremonies will be hosted live on Facebook and on SuperWalk.ca . Although our walking will be socially distanced this year, the need for fundraising remains the same. Did you know that at least 25 Canadians will be diagnosed with Parkinson’s today and every day. Together we will never waiver in our pursuit of beating Parkinson’s. No Matter What.
Having reached my original goal of $10,000, does not imply that I am in any way slowing down in my pursuit of raising money to ensure Parkinson Canada is there for Canadians living with Parkinson’s today – while funding research into better treatments and one day, a cure. As long as I am able, I will walk for those that can’t - will you please donate for those in need?
Every dollar means new hope. Thank you!
Your gift shows support for the Parkinson Community. It shows them that no matter how things change and no matter what days may bring there is strength in numbers. With unwavering spirits - letting no obstacle hold us back, our Parkinson community stands together: No Matter What.
God Bless You
