Support [NAME] for Parkinson SuperWalk
Everyday Heroes. Extraordinary Hope.
This September I’m joining thousands of persons living with Parkinson’s Disease in communities across Canada as part of Parkinson SuperWalk to raise money in the fight against this insidious disease. As a person living with Parkinson’s disease this initiative is extremely important to me personally and I would be most grateful if you can give me your support again this year.
Unlike previous years, because of the COVID -19 pandemic, the 2020 Superwalk is a virtual event with participants meeting a challenge to participate in a physical activity. I have been participating in daily virtual dancing with Parkinson’s lessons, and three-times-a-week virtual group exercise classes.
The need continues to increase every year. More than 25 Canadians are diagnosed with Parkinson's every day; more than one person every hour. By 2031, the number of people living with Parkinson’s in Canada will more than double. Your contribution to Parkinson SuperWalk helps to fund the increasing need for support for persons living with Parkinson’s and their care-givers, advocacy for government action, and research for prevention and cures for this disease.
Your donation fuels better health outcomes for Canadians living with Parkinson's today, and it supports the Parkinson Canada Research Program which works with Canada's brightest researchers to find the next big breakthroughs in treatment. I am most excited about the Canadian Open Parkinson Network registry (C-OPN), a new comprehensive database that will accelerate knowledge, improve the understanding of this multifaceted disease, and facilitate large-scale projects and trials with a variety of techniques and analysis methods with high statistical power. I have accepted an invitation to be among the first to sign up to join the C-OPN registry.
This is why I'm asking for your support today. Help me ensure Parkinson Canada is there for Canadians living with Parkinson’s today – while funding research into better treatments and one day, a cure.
