Welcome to Dianne's Superwalk Page!!
Most of you already know this, but for those of you who don't, I was diagnosed with Parkinsons's Disease in the fall of 2013. Parkinson's runs in my family, so this walk is important to me for many reasons. My Mom's father (my grandfather) had Parkinsons, as do several of her cousins. One of her cousins died 2 years ago from complications of the disease. I would like to see a cure, not so much for me, but for my children who may be at risk of developing this disease.
This will be my eighth walk and I hope that I do as well as I did last year! I raised over $4000 last year, so lets see how it goes.
As I did last year, I'll be selling my book Genes: The Story of an Accidental Superhero. As an added bonus, I'll be selling the sequel to that book Genes: The Continuing Adventures of the Accidental Superhero!!
I have also started painting and am selling them on Facebook at
All proceeds will go toward the walk.
You can find my book on Kobo and Kindle. All the money raised from those sales will go directly to this campaign! Thanks. You can also get a paperback version. Just let me know and I'll add you to my list and make a bulk order.
In September my family and I will join 14,000 Canadians who take part in the Parkinson SuperWalk. Due to Covid 19, the Walk will be somewhat different this year. In our case, the Bramble Walkers will be doing a 5K run/walk in our neighbourhood on Sept 11. I hope that many of my neighbours come out to cheer us on!
Together we raise funds for education and support services, not only for people with Parkinson's, but also for their caregivers and family members too in communities across Canada. This annual event also raises funds for research into the causes of Parkinson's, better treatments and one day, a cure. Thank you!
The winner of the May draw for one of my paintings is Karen Goebel!
The prize for June is a signed copy of each of my books!!! Anyone who donates in June will be eligible for the draw.
The winner of June's prize is Ron Awde!!!
July's prize is a basket full of goodies!
The winner of the August prize is Ellen Bertrand!!!
That marks the end of prize draws for this year. Fundraising continues for 10 more days. Thank you very much to everyone who has donated.
