Support Vernon and Penny for Parkinson SuperWalk 2021
Thanks for taking a look at our personal page.
This will be the fifth year that Vernon and I have participated in Superwalk. As was the case last year, there will be no large Superwalks this year. We will miss being part of the sea of blue t-shirts, walking along the St. Lawrence River. We will, however, continue to fund-raise. With very tightly crossed fingers, we are hoping to raise the same amount this year as we did last year - $7,000.00
Instead of one large walk, the Cornwall group that we work with will have a number of smaller groups, made up of families and friends who will walk in their neighborhoods, using any blue Superwalk t-shirts they may have from previous years. If public health Covid-19 guidelines permit, Vernon and I don our blue t-shirts and red Superwalk caps, and take a walk around our neighborhood on September 11. If that it is not possible, we will follow the Parkinson Canada virtual walk from our balcony in Ottawa, fully clad in our blue t-shirts and red caps.
The picture included here reflects the impact of Covid-19. As we watched the daily Covid reports on TV Vernon was intrigued by the Prime Minister's beard and decided he too would would sprout one. I think it is a good new look. His red cap and blue t-shirt are from 2019, when last we were able to walk for Superwalk.
As you can see, Vernon looks as mischievous as ever. We both take it one day at a time. Parkinson is a progressive disease, and, as we knew it would, slowly but surely, his disease is progressing. Vernon remains determined to control as much of this disease as he possibly can. In this he is bolstered by the love and support of good friends and family.
Our reasons for participating in Superwalk are quite simple. Parkinson Canada has been a major source of support for us. We value the work they do and want to give back. The Superwalk campaigns lets us do that.
Thanks for your past support and for being with us on this venture. We hope you will be able to support us again this year. To do that, all you need to do now is click the DONATE NOW button on the right hand side of the page, above the progress meter and achievements. Parkinson Canada will immediately acknowledge your donation and provide you with a tax receipt.
We'll keep you posted on how we make out with our ambitious goal - $7,000.00.
