No Matter What
Our Parkinson Community Stands Together: No Matter What.
Over the last year, I’ve had the privilege to listen and learn from the Parkinson Community coast to coast and from around the world. I’ve appreciated the opportunity to hear about the issues impacting the Parkinson’s community, directly from those who have been affected by Parkinson's. I have heard about the challenges that exist throughout the diagnosis process, the barriers encountered accessing care and the need for more wellness and support programs. Our research and clinical teams have described the variability of care across the nation and are seeking the best models for care. The need to continue to support the community has never been so great. Parkinson Canada needs to ensure we can provide impact to the over 100,000 people affected by Parkinson's, ensuring that we raise their voices and all the while support the exceptional research that is ongoing to find new treatments and a cure.
The stories of resilience, bravery, compassion, kindness and humour that are continually being shared has shown me time and time again how important a Parkinson's Community has been and needs to continue to be. Parkinson Canada is doing no matter what, to support those impacted by Parkinson's so that no one is alone, that people living with Parkinson's are seeing the choices that can improve their quality of life and the Parkinson Community are witnessing a world free of Parkinson's in the near future. No Matter What.
This year on September 11, my family and I be walking with other Canadian's across Canada as part of Parkinson Canada's Superwalk in support of the 100,000 Canadians who live with Parkinson's. There is no other critical time than now.
