Most of you already know this, but for those of you who don't, I was diagnosed with Parkinsons's Disease in the fall of 2013. Parkinson's runs in my family, so this walk is important to me for many reasons. My Mom's father (my grandfather) had Parkinsons, as do several of her cousins. One of her cousins died a few years ago from complications of the disease. I am fairly certain that my father had it. One of his brothers has it. I would like to see a cure, not so much for me, but for my children who may be at risk of developing this disease.
This will be my eleventh walk and I hope that I do as well as I did last year! I raised over $6000 last year, so lets see how it goes.
As I did last year, I'll be selling my book Genes: The Story of an Accidental Superhero. As an added bonus, I'll be selling the sequel to that book Genes: The Continuing Adventures of the Accidental Superhero!!
I continue to paint and am selling them on Facebook at
https://www.facebook.com/BrambleDianne
All proceeds will go toward the walk.
You can find my book on Kobo and Kindle. All the money raised from those sales will go directly to this campaign! Thanks. You can also get a paperback version. Just let me know and I'll add you to my list and make a bulk order.
In September my family and I will join 14,000 Canadians who take part in the Parkinson SuperWalk. This year, the Walk returns to it's pre-covid format with all tve teams ans walkers meeting on walk day and having a great time!
Together we raise funds for education and support services, not only for people with Parkinson's, but also for their caregivers and family members too in communities across Canada. This annual event also raises funds for research into the causes of Parkinson's, better treatments and one day, a cure. Thank you!
Stay tuned for a special fundraising event I'm trying to organize!!
