When someone you know or love is affected by a disease or illness, that cause becomes very close to your heart. As many know, my dad was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and passed away in 2022. I continue to support and advocate for Parkinson Canada.
Other members of my family have since been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, as well 100,000 other Canadians that are currently living with this disease with new diagnoses made daily.
This year I am walking with my uncle, Vasant Ruparelia (a retired family physician) and other members of my family in support of Parkinson Canada to raise money to empower the Parkinson's community.
This year, we are also celebrating my uncle's 85th Birthday and we have both pledged to honour the number 85. We kick off our fundraising by donating 85$ and we will be walking 8.5 km.
Parkinson's is a disease that affects not only individuals but also families, friends and care partners who come together to manage the realities of Parkinson's.
I am so grateful to have the support of the Ruparelia family and therefore have named our team Ruparelia Strength.
