Everyday Heroes. Extraordinary Hope.
Twelve years ago, my husband Steve (aka Joey) was diagnosed with Parkinson's. Up until a few years ago, he was pretty much able to continue life as we knew it, with a few modifications. Then the daily struggle of maintaining a full-time high pressure job and the ever increasing symptoms became too much. That was such a difficult time for him and I felt so helpless as the doctors told him to leave an engineering job he loved and never return. He had to find a new routine, a reason to get out of bed each day, something new to fill his days. I am so thankful for the Boxing4Health gang, they helped him find his way out of the darkness. The coaches and boxers are truly amazing and so supportive of each other. Medication and exercise are helping, but more needs to be done.
By 2031, the number of people living with Parkinson’s in Canada will more than double. I am participating in the Parkinson SuperWalk to fund the increasing need for support, education, advocacy and research. This is why I’m asking for your support today.
Help me ensure Parkinson Canada is there for Canadians living with Parkinson’s today – while funding research into better treatments and one day, a cure.
