Ruparelia Family Strength

When someone you know or love is affected by a disease or illness, that cause becomes very close to your heart.
This year, my cousin, Vasant Ruparelia and I have chosen to do the Parkinson's Superwalk because people we love have been affected by this disease.  Vasantbhai's wife, Indu Ruparelia has been living with Parkinson's disease for the last 12 years and my dad passed away from his battle with Parkinson's disease in 2022.
This year, we will celebrate Vasant's 85th Birthday by honoring all those we know living with Parkinson's.  There are 100,000 Canadians that are currently living with this disease with new diagnoses being made daily.  Parkinson's is the fastest growing neurological disorder in the world. In the brain, nerves exchange signals through dopamine, a chemical that controls movement. Currently, there is no cure, and the need is only increasing. By 2031, the number of people living with Parkinson's in Canada will more than double.

This year our participation is how we will celebrate my cousin's 85th Birthday.  We have both pledged to honour the number 85.
We kick off our fundraising by donating 85$ each and we will be walking 8.5 km together.
Parkinson's is a disease that affects not only individuals but also families, friends and care partners who come together to manage the realities of Parkinson's.
I am so grateful to have the support of the Ruparelia family and therefore have named our team Ruparelia Strength.
