Your Impact

Every September Canadians from coast-to-coast unite to raise awareness and important funds for Parkinson Canada. To date, SuperWalk has raised over $43 million to fund research, support tools, and advocacy for people living with Parkinson’s.

When you walk SuperWalk or donate - whether it be money or your equally valuable time - you’re supporting Parkinson Canada in our quest to improve the lives of people living with Parkinson’s, their care partners, and to ultimately find a cure for the disease affecting more than 100,000 Canadians. Our combined efforts have a huge impact on the research, the services, the advocacy, and the lives of Canadians.

Research & Innovation

We bring together researchers to cultivate and support the most leading-edge science. We have invested in the next generation of researchers and clinicians, many who have continued in the field determined to further our understanding of the disease as well as the care management of people living with Parkinson’s.

Programs & Services

We are here for Canadians throughout all stages of their Parkinson journey. Every year, Parkinson Canada’s programs and services reach nearly 10,000 Canadians living with Parkinson’s and their care partners for information and referral services where they receive free and confidential non-medical support.

Advocacy

We are committed to raising the voice of people affected by Parkinson’s to advance solutions toward improved care and quality of life. Our community initiatives raise awareness for much needed programs and services for the Parkinson community.

Impact Stories

Parkinson Canada aims to inspire action and hope by sharing and celebrating stories of those affected by Parkinson's.

Claire Giallonardo

Claire Giallonardo's life has always been intertwined with nature and the arts. Despite a successful career in finance, her true passion lies in her artistic and poetic pursuits. When she was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2014, she was forced to retire earlier than expected. But instead of letting it defeat her, Claire found a way to navigate the changes and reignite her creative flame. She's now dedicated to creating a secure and balanced future while living with Parkinson's. Through SuperWalk and Facebook Fundraising, she has raised a significant amount of funds for Parkinson Canada and has high hopes for 2023.

Don Tallman

Diagnosed with Parkinson's in August 2018, Don Tallman sought out a new form of physical activity. Following his doctor's advice, he joined his first boxing class with Diana just three days after his diagnosis. Despite their active lifestyles, the challenging workouts proved to be much more than just a physical challenge. After only five weeks, Don and Diana participated in their first Parkinson Canada SuperWalk and discovered the numerous benefits beyond fitness that came with Boxing 4 Health. The Boxing 4 Health team has grown year by year and is now the top fundraising team in Canada. The Boxing 4 Health team motivates each other and motivates all our Parkinson Canada SuperWalk participants to reach new fundraising milestones.

Ben Smith

Ben Smith was diagnosed with Early Onset Parkinson’s in August 2019. He reached out to Parkinson Canada to learn more about Parkinson’s and decided to take action by fundraising for SuperWalk and selling push-ups to raise money. In his first year, Ben completed 225 push-ups and raised more than $5,000. He continues to be a top fundraiser and furthered his impact in 2022 by becoming a volunteer event coordinator for the Calgary SuperWalk, planning the event logistics and recruiting participants, donors, sponsors, and vendors. We are inspired by our SuperWalk participants, like Ben, every day!
